I've been generally quite lucky with the weather on this trip, but not this time.

This was my second time around the area. The first time I called passed to see check it out as I was passing to go to Gran Paradiso.

Germany was one where I was forced to do in a downpour to keep to my schedule. It all started clear, but I knew that the rain was incoming, and it didn't take long for it to show up. It got quite bad, so I stopped at a mountain refuge half-way up and waited for over an hour in the hope it would pass. But it only seemed to get worse. With no signs of improvement, I was debating if I should start walking down as the guy in the hut was advising me to. But then I figured if I was going to have to walk the rain anyway, I might as well head up and be done with it instead. So I scrambled up the via Ferrata route for two hours, and by the end of it, I don't think there was a dry bit on me. However, on the plus side, I had the rarity of having the summit of Zugspitze entirely to myself. Which only highlights the adverse conditions when this place attracts up to half a million visitors a year.
