Although this was not on my list to do, there are places and summits on this road-trip that I refuse to let slip by. Gibraltar would be the first of these peaks. It had been somewhere that I've wanted to visit for a long time and this made the perfect excuse for it.

The hike was a lot of fun. The monkeys that were scattered around gave it a whole new twist to anything that I've done previously.

Our plan was to go up and watch the sunset from the summit. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't exactly what I had in mind.

Sun was due to set about 9. We left in plenty of time however took some detours and got a bit lost on the way. We walked to see Gibraltars' 100-tonne gun, after finding out it was closed for the evening we then made our way towards the Mediterranean step that we had been told about. This wasn't the most direct route up but it was the most scenic

Our main goal obviously was to get to the highest point of Gibraltar. I anticipated this would be made clear / signposted as we started. No details we obvious on any of the maps.

When we reached the top of the Mediterranean Steps we found ourselves next to Lord Airey's battery. I'd seen pictures of here previously and assumed that this was the high point. However when looking across

Not content that I reached the summit in the evening. I decided to go up first thing in the morning as well.

I would go up for sunrise, but take a quicker more direct route that we used on the way down previously. I didn't know how long this would take but I gave myself 45min. To get up there for half 7.
