Up until recently this was regarded as Kosovo's highest peak. However due to some boarder changes with North Macedonia along the South of the country, now another summit actually believed to be slightly higher is now shared between the countries. Making it a new highest for #Kosovo.
However, the country appears to be slow on adopting the changes in their travel leaflets and tourist information packs. Kosovo's highest point is still always listed as Đeravica. Of course there is speculation that this might be down to the boarder still being a sensitive issue in the area. So just to be on the safe side, I decided that I would do them both.

After my coincidental meeting on Montenegro's Zla Kolota with Kim & Santa - two others that were doing the European highpoints. We had arranged to meet up again to do Đeravica together.
We both stayed in Peja and traveled down towards the mountain in one car. As I had a 4x4, all be it a very basic one. It was the only way to get to the start of the trail. We traveled for nearly 2 hours up through the forest on one of the worst roads that I had ever driven on.
With such bad access I assumed that there would be nothing up near the summit but to my surprise as we started to come out of the forest and into a clearing, a settlement came into view. My book had it mentioned that there were 8 houses at the settlement of Erenic. But the information is over 10 years old here and they had built a lot more in the meantime.
We arrived towards the top of the settlement to a place called The Grand Hotel. Outside there was a map of the area so we decided to park the car, get out and have a look. We were still a bit unsure of where it started at this point but one of the locals came down from the hotel and introduced himself. He offered to show us to the start of the trail and ended up walking the first hour of the hike with us.

The majority of the way up is just a gentle stroll up grassy verges. Nothing too difficult and the hike felt like it went pretty quick. There were still some patches of snow as we came closer to the top.

The last part of the hike got steeper and turned into a stone terrain, but it was never too much of an issue.
After 10 mins or so at the top the rain came in and we quickly made our move back down again. On our return to the settlement we stopped off and had some local food from the restaurant at The Grand Hotel. It was a great end to the hike.
